Debate on ‘Is Homosexuality in Sport still a Taboo’

EGLSF Co-President Klaus Heusslein and EuroGames Committee Member Lou Manders (former EGLSF Co-President) met Thomas Hitzlsperger at the debate 'Is Homosexuality in Sport still a Taboo' which had been hosted by the Dutch Embassy at Berlin in June . Hitzlsperger reported to have experienced his coming-out as liberation, especially when he finally felt able to talk with his friends and family about his sexual orientation. EGLSF Boardmeeting in Amsterdam

The EGLSF board met in Amsterdam from July 25 until July 27th. Klaus Heusslein, Annette Wachter, Tamara Tien, Christiana Daneva, Tim Van Hoydonck, Jon Landa and Daniel Waliduda were welcomed warmly by Bauke Ylstra and Hans Vugts from Upstream Amsterdam. During the weekend there was time to meet with the  legal advisory committee and EuroGames working group. On Friday, EGLSF organised a Meet & Greet for all Dutch member organisations, where members had time to meet the board and to get to know each other. Thanks to all the clubs who joined us! Welcome to our newest member 'Discover Football from Berlin, Germany'. DISCOVER FOOTBALL is an initiative of Fußball und Begegnung e.V., a Berlin-based NGO that advocates for a world in which girls and women can do sports without being discriminated against. EuroGames Stockholm to host the 2015 IGLA World Aquatics Championships

EuroGames Stockholm is pleased to announce that it will host the 2015 International Gay & Lesbian Aquatics (IGLA) World Championships in conjunction with its cultural, sport and political programme. The aquatics championships held from the 5th to the 9th of August will include swimming, diving, water polo and synchronized swimming and will be the world?s largest pro LGBTQ aquatics event of 2015. 6th World Conference on Women and Sports

Last year the EGLSF signed the 'Brighton Declaration of Women and Sport'. A commitment to gender equality in sport. Every 4 years a international conference is held and this year it attracted more than 700 participants from almost 100 countries in Helsinki. And it was the first time that LBTIQ issues were raised. During four days several topics were discussed, all regarding women and sports.
