EGLSF board’s statement on progress of Rome EuroGames

On March 17th the EGLSF Assembly passed a motion asking Rome EuroGames organisers to review certain aspects of their organisation in line with EGSLF quality assurance processes. This motion included a temporary suspension of online registrations until the end of the review period on 30th March.  This review is currently ongoing and we will offer a full statement when it is complete.  It is in the interests of our members and all athletes and stakeholders that we work proactively and decisively to ensure a high quality EuroGames.

EGLSF EuroGames – a strong future ahead

EGLSF is pleased to announce a strong future ahead for our annual European LGBTIQ multi-sport  tournament.

At the Annual General Assembly this year in Budapest, contracts were signed with Dusseldorf, Germany and with Copenhagen, Denmark for EuroGames 2020 and 2021 respectively, and the Assembly voted the bid for the 2022 EuroGames in Nijmegen, Netherlands.

Once a year the EGLSF celebrates a huge European gay sport event: EuroGames - a high-quality sport event for the LGBTIQ sports community. This event promotes the following goals:

fight against discrimination in sport on grounds of sexual preference or orientation
stimulate integration in sport and emancipation of LGBTIQ [...]

Freedom Bike Ride 2016

A friend of mine and me, we got off on the Vyborg Station. About 240 km lied ahead of us. Four days of hard cycling and unpredictable weather. At that moment I realized that I challenged myself again. ‘I’m just an amateur. Why do I do it again?’ I thought. However, I knew that I could do it. A year ago I did it and reached Stockholm. So why should it be impossible this time?

The EuroGames Photo Competition Winners Are…

During the EuroGames in Helsinki this year, the EGLSF ran a photo competition called the "Spirit of EuroGames". We invited everyone to submit a photo that they felt captured the spirit of the EuroGames and tag it with the #SOEG16. The response was overwhelming with just under 500 entries, and over the past 2 weeks we have been busy deciding which photos really captured the essence of the EuroGames. And now we are happy to inform you that in 3rd place, and winning a €25 Helsinki Goodie Bag is

Inspirational Additions to the “Against the Rules” Exhibition.

The EGLSF is proud to unveil 2 new additions to the "Against the Rules" Exhibition. Over the past number of months the federation has been looking for inspirational athletes to join the exhibition and after long discussions we are happy to welcome Finnish Professional Goal Keeper for FC Bayern München, Tinja-Riikka Korpela, and Turkish Professional Referee, Halil İbrahim Dinçdağ.

This update is part of the Queering Football, Erasmus+ project that the EGLSF is partnering in for the next 2 years. The EGLSF and FSGL are proud to be hosting a mobile Euro Pride House in France during the 2016 UEFA European [...]
