On March 17th the EGLSF Assembly passed a motion asking Rome EuroGames organisers to review certain aspects of their organisation in line with EGSLF quality assurance processes. This motion included a temporary suspension of online registrations until the end of the review period on 30th March. This review is currently ongoing and we will offer a full statement when it is complete. It is in the interests of our members and all athletes and stakeholders that we work proactively and decisively to ensure a high quality EuroGames.
We also regret that ESSDA and the organisers of Rome EuroGames 2019 did not manage to come to an agreement concerning the European Championships. ESSDA are continuing to work with both the EGLSF and Rome EuroGames organisers with the joint aim of delivering a high-quality same-sex dance competition at the Rome EuroGames.
I’m very disappointed to have read about the problems with the Rome games. Having been in Stockholm where the organisation left a lot to be desired, and having spent a lot on going to Miami (holidays and money) only to have that cancelled 3 hours before landing, this was the third and final attempt at going to a gay sports event. I have a bad feeling again with Rome, but this is really a shocking mistake given the history of the gay sports events.
My husband has sent emails about his event in the last days (the run) but hasn’t received any response which indicates things are not as positive as you indicate in your press release. This is the same type of progression as Miami.
If the Rome games fail there will be no future eurogames.
Dear Pete
I have tried to send you an email to your email noted here, but it is returned as “address couldn’t be found”
My response is below…

I have just seen your comment on our website, and respond immediately.
I understand your disappointment, and am sincerely sorry that your emails to Rome have gone unanswered. This is unacceptable, and I understand does not lead to you feel comfortable with the organisation of Rome. I have now written to Rome organisers and you will have an anwser within 48h. If this is not the case, please do not hesitate in getting back to me.
Secondly, the precautions we took of closing registration while we did an audit are precisely to avoid what happened in Miami. EGLSF sports specialists – experienced with EuroGames organisation – took part in this audit and provided their feedback, which the Board acted on. Rome has assured us that the funding and the organisation is secure for the sports that are open for registration. Those that we were not comfortable with have been relegated to ‘leisure’ status’ or removed from the EuroGames offer.
I hope this makes you feel more at ease and we hope to see you and your husband in Rome in July.
Please do not hesitiate to get back to Rome or EGLSF if you have further queries.
Best,
