Margaret Court controversy

EGLSF have followed the controversy surrounding the acknowledgement of Margaret Court’s tennis achievements. Successful sportspeople are role models and to have them vilify entire communities, as Margaret Court has done to the LGBTQI+ community, is extremely damaging. Her comments make LGBTQI+ people unwelcome, and suggest they have fewer human rights – such as access to sport – or at best, presumably should only be allowed to participate if they hide who they are. EGLSF at Women’s World Cup Football Diversity House

EGLSF hosted two events at the Diversity House in Paris – set up by the Fare network in Paris for the FIFA Women's World Cup. The first of these events was a panel discussion that explored how LGBT sports clubs and organisations provide a ground for empowering women through sport, and the subjects of homophobia and sexism in sport. EGLSF EuroGames – a strong future ahead

EGLSF is pleased to announce a strong future ahead for our annual European LGBTIQ multi-sport tournament. At the Annual General Assembly this year in Budapest, contracts were signed with Dusseldorf, Germany and with Copenhagen, Denmark for EuroGames 2020 and 2021 respectively, and the Assembly voted the bid for the 2022 EuroGames in Nijmegen, Netherlands. Once a year the EGLSF celebrates a huge European gay sport event: EuroGames - a high-quality sport event for the LGBTIQ sports community. EGLSF Annual General Assembly Budapest 2019

The EGLSF Annual General Assembly, which took place in Budapest on 15th-17th March, voted in a new co-President - Hugh Torrance. We welcome him and look forward to working with him. Diana van den Born was reappointed for the position of board member at large. The Annual General Assembly also voted in favour of future EuroGames in Nijmegen in 2022, and future Annual General Assembly in Berne in 2021. Full details of the proceedings will be available in the minutes, which will be published within 3 months.

EGLSF successful in European Commission bid

The European Commission published the results of the 2018 Call for proposals "Exchanges and mobility in sport". We are extremely pleased to announce that EGLSF is one of the 7 successful recipients of the project funding with our proposal : "Development of LGBTQ sports clubs in Central and Eastern Europe". This call aims to contribute to the efforts of sport organisations by supporting the learning mobility of their staff. Exchanges of people, ideas and good practices can be beneficial for the individuals, for their organisations and for sport and society as a whole.
