The EGLSF condemn homophobic abuse aimed at Cristiano Ronaldo

[photo youtube] During a recent match against Atletico, the Real Madrid striker clashed heads with opposing team midfielder Koke after he reportedly hurled a homophobic slur towards him, for which both players were given a yellow card. Spanish radio station Cadena Cope, who claim to have overheard a conversation where Ronaldo recounted what had happened on the pitch to his teammates, report that Koke called him a “faggot”. Ronaldo then reportedly fired back: “A faggot, yes, but a rich one, bastard.” It’s not the first time the Portugese footballer has been targeted with homophobic abuse – back in April, sections of [...]

EGLSF attend Football Pride Week

From the 05 – 09 October 2016, football fans  hosted an international conference on homophobia in football. The EGLSF was represented by John Ryan and Sarah Townsend. Brussels Gay Sports Celebrate 25 years!

Brussels Gay Sports, or BGS, started in 1991 as a group of friends who played volleyball. Since then it has grown and it is now – 25 years later – an association of more than 750 members. Badminton, body conditioning, capoeira, futsal, hiking, pilates, running, swimming, tango dancing, tennis, volleyball, yoga and water polo. Those are the sports BGS has on offer. But BGS also has a choir, a massage course, a group of improvisation theater, and even vegetarians that unite on a regular basis. The success of BGS can be measured by the hundreds of people who participate in [...]
