Margaret Court controversy

EGLSF have followed the controversy surrounding the acknowledgement of Margaret Court’s tennis achievements. Successful sportspeople are role models and to have them vilify entire communities, as Margaret Court has done to the LGBTQI+ community, is extremely damaging. Her comments make LGBTQI+ people unwelcome, and suggest they have fewer human rights – such as access to sport – or at best, presumably should only be allowed to participate if they hide who they are. EGLSF Project “CEEYOUSPORT”

The EGLSF CEEYOUSPORT project kicked off successfully with its first workshop in Zagreb at the end of April. The goal of the 2-day-long workshop was to carry out a self-assessment of LGBTIQ+ sport initiatives with a focus on CEE-specific issues. The idea was for the participants to get to know not only each other, but also the challenges they face in their home countries, and the successes they have already reached with their clubs or organisations. EGLSF at Women’s World Cup Football Diversity House

EGLSF hosted two events at the Diversity House in Paris – set up by the Fare network in Paris for the FIFA Women's World Cup. The first of these events was a panel discussion that explored how LGBT sports clubs and organisations provide a ground for empowering women through sport, and the subjects of homophobia and sexism in sport. EGLSF on CAS Ruling on Women Track Athletes

Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ruling on women track athletes Discrimination is necessary. This is what the CAS ruling has decided. EGLSF board’s statement on progress of Rome EuroGames

On March 17th the EGLSF Assembly passed a motion asking Rome EuroGames organisers to review certain aspects of their organisation in line with EGSLF quality assurance processes. This motion included a temporary suspension of online registrations until the end of the review period on 30th March. This review is currently ongoing and we will offer a full statement when it is complete.
