The GAME for Inclusion Europe sub-granting call received an enthusiastic response from across the EGLSF community, resulting in the selection of nine grassroots projects from member clubs in eight European countries. Each project addresses inclusion through a distinct lens, ranging from accessibility and anti-racism to leadership, governance and community participation, highlighting the transformative power of sport in building fairer, more inclusive societies.

NAME OF THE PROJECT EGLSF SPORT CLUB COUNTRY PROJECT SUMMARY
Diversity in motion Asociación
Deportiva
Cierzo
proLGTB
SPAIN This pilot initiative aims to create accessible and inclusive sports opportunities for LGBTIQ+ individuals with mobility impairments, while building cooperation between the LGBTIQ+ sports community and disability-sector organisations, laying the groundwork for a sustainable, adapted badminton section within the club.

A key aspect of Diversity in Motion is that it is designed as an inclusive, not just an integrative, initiative. Instead of merely adapting individuals to an existing sports setup, it transforms the sports environment itself. This allows people with and without mobility impairments to participate together on equal terms, with all participants using wheelchairs during sessions.

Rugby Welcomes Rome: Toolkit & Pilot Open Training for

Inclusion

Libera Rugby Club ITALY In contact team sports, potential newcomers, particularly LGBTQI+ individuals and allies, often drop out before trying it for the first time because they lack clear expectations about what will happen, what to wear, and how contact is handled. They also worry about adapting to new spaces and fear micro-aggressions or exclusion.

This project aims to improve newcomer inclusion in LGBTQI+ rugby by offering open training sessions, implementing safeguarding protocols, and providing a practical welcome toolkit.

Laufen GEGEN Rechts - Run AGAINST the Right Seitenwechsel GERMANY The “Run Against the Right” is an inclusive charity run and a public stance against right-wing extremism, discrimination, and inhumane attitudes. It conveys a strong message supporting diversity and opposing exclusion, adopting an intersectional approach. Inclusive Football Against LGBTQIphobia and Racism Marseille Rainbow Sport FRANCE This initiative is an inclusive, LGBTQI-friendly 7-a-side football event in Marseille, uniting LGBTQI+ individuals, migrants, and allies from the local community. It aims to create a safe and welcoming sporting space, fight discrimination in sports, and encourage participation among groups that often encounter barriers, especially LGBTQI+ migrants and youth.

The proposals present a wide range of ideas to make sport more inclusive, including grassroots events, community outreach, advocacy initiatives, and enhancements to organisational structures. Collectively, they demonstrate a strong and increasing dedication to enabling LGBTQI+ individuals to participate in sport safely, openly, and on equal terms.

This call forms part of “UNITED in Sport: A European Plan for LGBTIQ+ Inclusion (2026)”, co-funded by the European Union (CERV Programme). The initiative goes beyond financial support. It aims to connect local action with a broader European movement, helping organisations share knowledge, build partnerships, and expand their reach.

At its heart, UNITED is about impact. Projects supported by this programme will not only benefit their immediate communities but also contribute to a broader shift in how inclusion is understood and practised in sport. Through events, storytelling, and ongoing communication across networks, the programme is expected to reach thousands of people, from local clubs and volunteers to institutions and policymakers.

We sincerely thank every organisation that applied. The variety, creativity, and dedication reflected in each proposal showcase the strength of the EGLSF community and its crucial part in building a more inclusive future for sport across Europe.
