Football for Equality: EGLSF’s Pride House Opened

Friday afternoon saw the official opening of EURO Pride House in Warsaw. The project is an initiative of the European Gay and Lesbian Sports Federation (EGLSF), and part of a wider programme of anti-discrimination activity during Euro2012, Football For Equality. It is a homophobia-free space for football fans to gather, watch football and network in Warsaw located close to the National Stadium. Euro Pride House: Invitation for the Opening of the EGLSF’s EURO Pride House

In a few days UEFA EURO 2012 will kick off in Warsaw, Poland. The same day the opening of the first Euro Pride House ever at European Football Championships ever will take place. Euro Pride House is an initiative of the European Gay and Lesbian Sports Federation and is part of a wider European project, Football For Equality, whose aim is to tackle homophobia and other forms of discrimination through sport. FOOTBALL FOR EVERYONE

Last month people witnessed with horror the brutal beating of Svyatoslav Sheremet, head of the Gay-Forum of Ukraine, at the first ever gay parade in Kiev. This sparked major concerns over the safety of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered people in Ukraine and those attending Euro 2012 in Ukraine in June. EGLSF Board Statement Regarding 1QE 2018

Some of our member clubs have contacted EGLSF these last days asking for some guidance regarding the messages of FGG and GLISA that they won't continue negotiating about 1QE 2018. Also at the AGA in Split there has been a strong message that EGLSF membership wants to do something regarding 1QE 2018. Therefore the EGLSF-Board assumes the role of coordinator in strong desire to make 1QE 2018 happen, despite the recent message from FGG and GLISA.
