Highlights of the year The annual general assembly in Rotterdam wrapped an amazing year in the history of EGLSF. We celebrated successful EuroGames in Lyon with a record number of participants, we concluded two important EGLSF led projects: +PLUSS and WSRO which both produced information packages that will be used within and outside the federation to reach our strategic goals, our communication team has grown and have managed to lift our profile, and finally we secured, for the first time, an operating grant from the European Union! EGLSF Members show Strong Interest in “GAME for Inclusion Europe” Call

On 4 March 2026, the European Gay and Lesbian Sport Federation organised an online information session on the newly launched “GAME for Inclusion Europe: Call for Proposals Supporting LGBTQI+ Grassroots Initiatives.” Around 20 representatives of EGLSF Member Organisations joined the session to learn more about the funding opportunity, the objectives of the call, and the application process. WSRO project research results

 About the project and the data collection The main objective of the LBTI+ Women in Sport: Research & Outcomes (WSRO) project was to start creating research data to reflect the situation regarding participation and visibility of LBTI+ women in sport, as individuals, and through their participation in mainstream and in LGBTIQ+ sports organisations, promoting equality and European values in and through sport by highlighting the needs, barriers, and challenges that they are presented with. EOLHSS – European Observatory on LGBTIQ+ Hate Speech in Sports

  Developing systems to prevent and protect athletes from hate speech across Europe About the Project Hate speech targeting LGBTIQ+ people remains one of the most pervasive and damaging forms of discrimination in sport. It silences athletes, drives people away from participation, and normalises a culture where exclusion and verbal violence are tolerated.
