Tackling Homophobia and Promoting Anti-Discrimination around Major Sport Events
Since January 2016, The European Gay & Lesbian Sport Federation has been a partner in the project QUEERING FOOTBALL.

From January 2016 till the end of 2017, this European project seeks to challenge homophobia in football and aims at establishing an inclusive football culture and anti-discrimination standards at major sport events.

About Queering Football
Homophobia – prejudices and violence against LGBTIQs* – is still one of the main and untackled problems in European football. Homophobic chants and physical attacks as well as ignorance and exclusion still happen on a daily basis.

EGLSF Announces the Election of the New Board

The European Gay & Lesbian Sport Federation announces the election of the new board.

Amsterdam, The Netherlands (10 MARCH 2016) – On Sunday 06 March, the Annual General Assembly elected new board members.

The board now consists of:

• Paul Brummitt, co-president, from Pan Idræt Copenhagen (DK)
• Annette Wachter, co-president, from SC Janus, Cologne (DE)
• John Ryan, general secretary, from Nat Utrecht, Utrecht (NL)

Around 80 LGBTI sports activists from countries across Europe will come to Glasgow in March 2016 for this annual event which is being hosted in Scotland for the first time ever. Queer Football Fanclubs and EGLSF join forces

Since February 2014 two important anti- homophobia institutions combines their forces. Queer Football Fan clubs with over 1,000 members in four European countries now is member of EGLSF (European Gay & Lesbian Sport Federation). EGLSF has about 10,000 members and operates on a climate in sport where everyone is free to decide about his sexual orientation or identity. These words also fits QFF, which has founded in 2006 with the goal in football stadiums to improve the fan culture sustainably and allow gay people to a pleasant and mainly safe participation in the “most beautiful thing in the world”.

‘UpFront’ Challenge to Homophobia & Transphobia for Young Sports Fans

Friday 17 May 2013, the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia (IDAHO) sees the official release of a brand new Football gaming app for mobile devices onto the market. Designed with an emphasis on fun and to challenge the skills of 11-16 year old gamers and other users, ‘UpFront’ also carries an important message – “Discrimination in sport is wrong”.

The game is released by the European Gay and Lesbian Sport Federation (EGLSF) as part of its ‘Pride in Sport’ project, an initiative funded within the European Commission’s Preparatory Actions in the Field of Sport.
