EGLSF speaks at IDAHOT Forum 2018, Lisbon

EGLSF accepted the Government of Portugal and ILGA Portugal’s invitation to speak on the Sports workshop panel for the IDAHOT Forum 2018, Lisbon on May 14th, 2018.

The central theme of the Forum was mainstreaming of LGBTI rights from local to global policies. The Forum was a full day of plenary presentations and workshops, that highlighted many of the current-day issues concerning our community, covered in themes from sport to interculturality, local politics and education.

EGLSF at VOICE final conference

EGLSF was present at the final conference for the VOICE Erasmus+ Sport project this weekend in Bergisch Gladbach, Germany. EGLSF has worked with other stakeholders in the academic and sports worlds to secure support for the victims, generate sound research data and enable the development of contextualised resources for the benefit of the European sport community.

The culmination of 2 years work in combatting sexual violence in European Sport through the voices of those affected, this final 2-day conference was a powerful and emotional presentation of  the results of the study, and the new educational resources developed for the European sport community.

EGLSF at the “Play the Game 2017” conference, Eindhoven.

This year there was the 10th edition of the Play the Game Conference in Eindhoven. More than 450 participants discussed the biggest challenges in the world of sport.

At the centre of the conference are classic Play the Game themes like doping, match-fixing and corruption in sport, but themes like innovation and new trends in sports such as e-sports have also found their way in to the programme.

THE CONFERENCE “QUEERING FOOTBALL: ADDRESSING HOMOPHOBIA AT MEGA SPORT EVENTS” SUCCESSFULLY KICKS OFF

The conference “QUEERING FOOTBALL: Addressing Homophobia at Mega Sport Events" successfully kicks off

Over 70 participants from 17 countries gathered at the Sport Faculty of the University of Ljubljana to discuss the topics of homophobia, prejudices and violence against LGBTIQs in the context of football and the FIFA World Cup 2018 in Russia.

EGLSF Workshop – Fields of sport: empowering or oppressive spaces for minorities?

The women board members of the European Gay and Lesbian Sport Federation (EGLSF) – Annette Wachter, Diana van den Born, Sarah Townsend - hosted a workshop in the “Fields of sport: empowering or oppressive spaces for minorities?" session at the European Lesbian Conference (EL*C) held in in Vienna from 5-8 October, 2017.

As the only sport representatives present, we had a good amount of time to present the current state of play with the EGLSF, the EuroGames, club membership, and open a discussion with the attendees on lesbian participation in sport at a grassroots level.
