THE OPPORTUNITY TO CHANGE THE LIVES OF LGBT SPORTS MEN AND WOMEN Following the presentation at the Annual General Assembly of the European Gay & Lesbian Sport Federation in March in Split, the EGLSF Board would like to give more information about one of the projects funded by the EU commission. EGLSF has been funded by the European Commission to put together good practice guidance on LGBT inclusion and the prevention of discrimination and prejudice based on gender expression and sexuality. This year's FARE Action week on the theme of "Football people" is taking place between October 16-31, 2012. To help organise grassroots events, FARE is able to offer small grants of a maximum of 400 Euros for activities that take place during the Action Weeks period or beyond for LGBT communities. The activities we are able to support include the production of campaigning materials (banners, flyers, fanzines, posters, t-shirts, stickers), the production of fan choreographies and flags, the organisation of stadium actions and community days and football- related intercultural events such as special matches, debates or tournaments. The European Gay and Lesbian Sport Federation (EGLSF), in occasion of EuroGames 2012 in Budapest, is glad to invite you to the conference HOMOPHOBIA IN THE STADIUM European institutions against discrimination in sports which will take place +Saturday, 30th June, at the EuroGames Village in Budapest (see address below). Different approaches from (inter)national regional and local governing bodies on tackling homophobia in sports throughout Europe. Which ones are successful, why are they successful? Friday afternoon saw the official opening of EURO Pride House in Warsaw. The project is an initiative of the European Gay and Lesbian Sports Federation (EGLSF), and part of a wider programme of anti-discrimination activity during Euro2012, Football For Equality. It is a homophobia-free space for football fans to gather, watch football and network in Warsaw located close to the National Stadium. In a few days UEFA EURO 2012 will kick off in Warsaw, Poland. The same day the opening of the first Euro Pride House ever at European Football Championships ever will take place. Euro Pride House is an initiative of the European Gay and Lesbian Sports Federation and is part of a wider European project, Football For Equality, whose aim is to tackle homophobia and other forms of discrimination through sport.
