The EGLSF has been granted funds from the European Union for a project “Preventing & Fighting Homophobic Violence & Intolerance in Sport – Pride in Sport”. EGLSF's bid includes the programming of a Anti-Discrimination Gaming Application for young people. The aim of the application is to raise awareness and understanding of discrimination such as homophobia, transphobia, racism, sexism and discrimination against disabled people in sport and to give all young people the tools with which to challenge such discrimination where they encounter it. EGLSF Board is pleased to announce as part of the EU project “Preventing and Fighting Homophobic Violence and Intolerance in Sport – Pride in Sport” funded by the European Commission (DG Education and Culture – Sport unit) a new initiative to support the development of inspirational local projects amongst EGLSF members. The European Gay and Lesbian Sports Federation (EGLSF) today called on UEFA to take action against José Mourinho for comments in which he referred to match officials as “maricones” (“faggots” in English). The comments were made by the Real Madrid coach prior to their Champion’s League tie against CSKA Moscow.
