Following the launch of the Government’s Charter for Action on Tackling Homophobia and Transphobia in Sport http://www.facebook.com/lgbtsportcharter yesterday, LGBT Sports Equity Organisation, Pride Sports, launched a new award to acknowledge the work of sports organisations making progress in this area. UK initiative: Football accepts gay-rights charter

Efforts to wipe out homophobia in sport have received a significant boost as the country's major sports leagues put their weight behind a government campaign. The organising bodies for football, tennis, cricket, rugby league, rugby union and the Olympics have all signed the government's charter for action. Homophobia in Sports: Bundestag votes to fight Homophobia in Sports

The German Bundestag decided on January 20th, 2011 to follow the recommendation of the Sports Commission to improve the general conditions of amateur sports. For the first time the fight against homophobia is addressed among other epiphenomenons of sport like doping, politically and religiously motivated violence and sexual abuse.
