Progress in tackling conversion therapies in Europe

On 9 July, an online focus group took place, helping the "Better in Colour, Better in Sports" European research project in progressing towards its goals, which involve addressing the issue of "conversion therapies" in Europe by analysing their prevalence and impact within the LGBTQIA+ community.

This online session, moderated by Prof. Baiocco from the Italian University "Roma La Sapienza," was dedicated to thoroughly discussing the project's upcoming survey.

The survey, led by Gaynet in partnership with the European Gay and Lesbian Sport Federation (EGLSF), aims to collect testimonies and data on discrimination, stigma, and discredited practices, including harmful conversion practices, experienced by individuals in sports and related environments due to their sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.

The data collected will subsequently be used to obtain formal commitments from European municipalities to actively oppose these practices.

Survey Launch at EuroGames in Lyon

The "Better in Colour, Better in Sports" project survey will soon be accessible online. For those attending the EuroGames from 23 to 27 July in Lyon, France, you will have the opportunity to contribute directly by completing the survey in person.

Four dedicated EGLSF volunteers, easily recognisable by their T-shirts featuring the project's logo, will be present at the EuroGames to facilitate participation. You'll find them at the EGLSF Booth at the Village.

Completing the questionnaire takes approximately 10 minutes. As a thank you for your time, participants who fill it out during the EuroGames will receive a small gift.

So, if you're visiting Lyon, be sure to look out for our volunteers! If you're unable to attend, don't worry, as the link to the survey will be shared online soon. Your input is crucial in helping us make sports better and more inclusive for everyone.
