On 22 September 2025, the partners of the PLUSS project (LGBTQI+ Policy and Leadership in Sport and Society), led by the European Gay & Lesbian Sport Federation (EGLSF), met online to plan the next stage of their work: dissemination.

Promoting the Project Deliverables

Over the past months, PLUSS partners have worked to research, document, and produce resources that highlight both the challenges and the achievements of LGBTQI+ people in sport.

The focus now shifts from developing materials to ensuring that they reach those who can put them into practice. Dissemination will be central to this effort; sharing knowledge and contributing to inspire dialogue and action across sport and society.

The focus is on making the project’s main outcomes widely accessible to relevant stakeholders. We will promote:

These materials bring together research, stories, practical guidance, and policy suggestions aimed at promoting inclusion and equality in sport. They provide practical advice on how to embed equality and inclusion into governance and leadership.

Reaching a wide variety of Stakeholders Across Europe

These resources cater to a diverse audience, including LGBTQI+ sport clubs, mainstream sports organisations, federations, universities, researchers, athletes, policymakers, and the general public. Distribution will be achieved via targeted outreach emails, wider mailings, and social media campaigns to ensure the project’s work has both significant depth and broad reach.

Save the Date: Two Upcoming Webinars

To strengthen dialogue around its findings, PLUSS partners will host two interactive webinars this autumn targeting leaders of the sport sectors and policymakers:

24 November, 19:30–21:00 CET – Presentation and discussion of the Community Guidelines
2 December, 15:00–16:30 CET – Presentation and discussion of the Purple Policy Paper

These events will provide an opportunity to discuss the resources produced by PLUSS partners directly, pose questions, and share ideas with experts and peers. You can already register for both webinars. We look forward to welcoming you to an engaging debate on sport and equality.

Strengthening Equality Through Knowledge

The dissemination phase is not just about sharing documents. It is about connecting research with practice, history with lived experience, and grassroots voices with policymakers. By making the project’s outputs widely available, the PLUSS consortium aims to build bridges between different levels of sport and to advance a culture of equality and inclusion across Europe.
