On 13 May 2025, the PLUSS (LGBTQI+ Policy and Leadership in Sport and Society) project partners gathered online to discuss the current status of the project's activities and outline the way forward for their collaborative efforts in LGBTQIA+ sports inclusion.

Project Deliverables: Watch Out for Three Upcoming Publications

During the session, partners reviewed three key documents set for publication:
1. Community Guidelines
2. Purple Policy Paper
3. Research Report on the History of LGBTQIA+ Sport Movement in Europe

Regarding the history report, EGLSF has announced that an illustrator has been commissioned to create a visual narrative highlighting key moments in the journey towards LGBTQIA+ inclusion in sport. These graphics will showcase, in an educational and engaging way, the resilience, dedication, and achievements of the LGBTQIA+ sports movement throughout history.

All three deliverables are expected to be released online in the coming weeks. Their official launch will be at a conference in Lyon on July?23, just ahead of the EuroGames opening ceremony. This event, organised by EGLSF in partnership with the University of Lyon, City of Villeurbanne, Metropolis of Lyon, Foundation FIER, Office des Sports de Lyon, and EuroGames Lyon?2025, will serve as a platform for the primary outcomes of the PLUSS project and amplify the voices behind these initiatives to a wide audience of LGBTQIA+ athletes, advocates, and stakeholders.

Action Learning: The Value of Addressing Challenges as a Group

The meeting on 13 May also marked the conclusion of the action learning phase. During this phase, six grassroots LGBTQIA+ sports organisations and partners of PLUSS participated in a structured methodology designed to assist them in implementing anti-discrimination strategies.

By participating in different online sessions to exchange challenges, best practices, and solutions, PLUSS partners have managed to create a stronger, more united front against discrimination, ensuring that LGBTQI+ individuals can fully engage in and enjoy the benefits of sport.

Each organisation shared how the learning phase has enhanced their personal and professional capabilities, particularly through peer brainstorming and structured support. Partners praised the programme’s methodology for offering clarity, enabling peer-to-peer exchange, and establishing a seamless approach to incorporate inclusive practices.

Ahead of the EuroGames Lyon 2025

In the coming weeks, partners will assess the real-world success of their anti-discrimination strategies. This will involve evaluating specific indicators and results to determine the effectiveness of the approaches and to refine future actions.
