The EGLSF announces FRANKFURT AM MAIN, GERMANY as EUROGAMES 2028 Host City

Amsterdam, The Netherlands (October 27, 2025) – On October 25, 2025, the EGLSF General Assembly elected member club FVV's bid and the city of Frankfurt am Main, Germany as hosts for our EuroGames 2028.

The bid cycle deadline for EuroGames 2028 closed in September 2025 at which time we had received
one bid: Frankfurt am Main, Germany / FVV.

The bidding cycle to find the host for 2028 edition was an exceptional one. The bid was at first limited to hosts from Central and Eastern European region. It was a strategic decision to encourage our smaller and often younger member clubs from underrepresented regions to bid for the event, and to make participation more affordable for people living in that region. In the end, we did not receive any bids for 2028 from the CEE region, and in September 2024, the bidding was made possible for all of our member clubs. Due to the exceptional circumstances, the bid presentation and voting took place online. FVV received 181 “yes” votes, which equals the number of votes cast. EGLSF congratulates Frankfurt for their excellent bid and results!

The bidding process and FVV have been from the start strongly supported by the City of Frankfurt am Main, and several other organisations, which are: project management consultancy PROPROJEKT, Artemis Sport Frankfurt e.V., the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB), the State of Hesse Association, the umbrella organisation of local sport clubs Sportkreis Frankfurt e.V. and the Christopher Street Day (CSD) Frankfurt organisation.

We are expecting to have an event with about 4000 participants, 700 volunteers and more than 20 different sports. The motto of the event is ”Sport, Democracy and Freedom –United in the Heart of Europe”.

EuroGames is Europe’s largest LGBTQI+ sport championship and occurs almost every year in a different
European city. The next games, EuroGames 2027, will take place in Cardiff, UK 14-17 July.

END.
