We are excited to announce that two new projects, funded under the Erasmus+ programme, are set to launch, with EGLSF playing a key role in both initiatives.
Queer Camino – Mindful Steps Towards Inclusion
“Queer Camino” offers a unique and transformative professional development opportunity for youth workers, centered around a 7-day pilgrimage walk from Lugo to Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, Spain. This experience combines physical journeying with reflective practice to cultivate self-awareness, deepen understanding of inclusion and diversity, and promote LGBTQI+ rights and advocacy.
The pilgrimage, paired with daily sessions facilitated by experienced trainers, will focus on enhancing emotional intelligence and developing creative engagement methods to promote mindfulness and inclusion. Through a blend of personal reflection, group activities, and experiential learning, participants will be equipped with practical tools for supporting LGBTQI+ inclusion in their work with young people.
The project aims to create a holistic learning experience that enriches participants both personally and professionally. By fostering collaborative learning and reflective practice, “Queer Camino” will empower youth workers to become stronger advocates for inclusivity and diversity in their communities.
This project is a collaboration between several organizations across Europe, including Saplinq (Slovakia), Mozaiq LGBT (Romania), Queer Sport Split (Croatia), Fussball (Germany), Atlasz (Hungary), Out in Slovenija (Slovenia), Activ’elles (France), EuroMuévete, and Colectivo Mosaiq (Spain), and will run until the end of 2025.
PROGRESS: Promoting Gender Rights, Equality Skills in Sport
The second exciting project, PROGRESS: Promoting Gender Rights, Equality Skills in Sport, focuses on addressing the persistent gender disparities in the sports sector. This small-scale cooperation partnership, led by the Fédération Nationale Profession Sport & Loisirs (France) in collaboration with EGLSF and FVMP (Valencian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces – Spain), is dedicated to strengthening the skills of sports organizations and their staff in promoting gender equality.
The project aims to provide sport organizations, trainers, and staff with the knowledge and skills they need to address gender inequality in sports through targeted workshops and training. By enhancing the competencies of professionals who work with athletes, volunteers, and managers, this initiative seeks to challenge traditional gender norms, empower women and non-binary individuals, and promote equality within the sports sector.
With the support of EGLSF, this project will provide tailored training materials, workshops, and best practices that organizations can apply to their training programs, helping to ensure that gender equality becomes an integral part of sports culture across Europe.
Both of these projects represent a significant step forward in our shared commitment to creating inclusive, safe, and equitable spaces for all in sport. They highlight the importance of empowering professionals to lead change and make a lasting impact in their communities. Stay tuned for updates on these exciting initiatives as we work together to promote inclusivity, diversity, and gender equality in sport.
