After Anton Hysén, 20-year old football player from Sweden came out earlier last month, a lot of media attention has been given to him and raised the topic of (lack of) out athletes in sport, especially football.

“I am a footballer. And I am gay. If I perform as a footballer, then I do not think it matters if I like girls or boys,” he said. He also acknowledges the possibility that this could affect his career, but pointed out that also other players have to deal with other discriminations, like racism.

In his interview with The Guardian, he says "Anyone afraid of coming out should give me a call."
