Important UPDATES

Aug 28:
The AGA 2010 draft minutes have been published. Please see the draft minutes and contact us regarding the comments and ammendments.

Mar 19:
The filnal version of the minutes for the EGLSF AGA 2009, as approved by this year's assembly, is available for download.

Mar 8:
This year's Annual General Assembly of the European Gay & Lesbian Sport Federation (EGLSF AGA 2010) has successfully concluded, and was historic in many senses. Please see the Press release for details.

Feb 27:
AGA 2010 papers have been finalised; including also the updated programme of the Strategic Planning Day. Please download the papers at the link above, and bring a copy with you to Manchester.
We warmly invite the members to register and attend the AGA. Member clubs not being able to attend (and have their membership paid), can transfer their votes to a delegate from a fellow club attending the Assembly. Please see the Vote Transfer form above.

Feb 13:
EGLSF has set up an online forum to prepare for the 2010 AGA debates, found at http://www.eglsf.info/members/forum/. By participating in this forum now, we can make the best use of our time in Manchester, and with luck, come up with some concrete suggestions for the AGA and Board. The forum will offer also those organizations not being able to be present at the AGA an opportunity to contribute to the debate.

Jan 15:
The Registration for the AGA and the Strategic Planning Day is opened.
AGA 2010 Preliminary Programme is available (see above).
Information regarding outreach, transport and facilities has been updated.

Dec 27:
The Outreach application for the AGA should be submitted before January 4, 2010 (see below).
General Registration will start soon; by Jan 15 latest.

Nov 28:
The information and documents for the 2010 AGA are being prepared at the moment.
An update on the AGA and on the conference will be available online here, and will also be featured in the EGLSF Newsletter.

STRATEGIC PLANNING DAY - March 5

EGLSF - European Gay & Lesbian Sport Federation is hosting the Strategic Planning Day on Friday 5 March. Facilitated by Pride Sports, the day will consist of four workshops which will focus on the following areas:
- Communication & Membership
- Sponsorship
- Sports/tournament regulation & good practice
- Diversity

Four 90-minute sessions throughout the day will enable delegates to contribute to each of the themes or focus on an area of particular interest. Key points from each of the workshops will be summarised and made available for all delegates to view over the weekend.

OUTREACH

An outreach fund is available for 2010 EGLSF AGA for up to 20 delegates. The fund includes GBP 150 bursary towards flights, and it covers hosted housing and all meals for the weekend. If you feel you could use the outreach support, please send an email to lou@pridesports.org. The deadline for applications is January 4, 2010. Applicants will be notified by individual emails.
Update: We no longer accept new applications for support. Club representatives who were granted the Outreach, have been contacted.

HOTEL, STRATEGIC DAY & AGA: Ramada Jarvis Manchester Piccadilly

The venue for the Strategic Planning Day and AGA is the Ramada Jarvis Piccadilly hotel. Located on Portland Street in Manchester City Centre, the hotel is five minutes walk from Canal St, Manchester’s Gay Village and at the very heart of the shopping district with its newly developed Arndale Centre on Market Street.
Wi-Fi connection is available throughout the hotel; in the meeting rooms projectors are available (all requests to be announced in advance).

The Town Hall, one of Manchester’s most historic buildings, is located approximately ten minutes by foot from the AGA venue. There are two entrances to the Town Hall, the main entrance in Albert Square and another entrance with a ramp (suitable for wheelchairs) on Lloyd St (to the right of the main entrance).

Legends Nightclub is located 10 minutes by foot from the AGA hotel. ‘Bollox’ is a club night in Manchester which has recently achieved fame as an ‘altered clubbing experience for gay, bi and straight queers’. ‘Bollox’ are very kindly hosting a party night which is free to all delegates.

Catering

Lunches and dinner may be booked when registering online for the AGA.
Please be aware that if you register for lunch(es) and/or dinner, you will be obliged to pay for booked meals. At the same time, meals should be booked at the time of online registration. Meals will take place at the Hotel.

Friday, Saturday, Sunday lunch: GBP 10 per meal per delegate (optional; recommended).
Saturday dinner: GBP 21 (it has become a tradition that the delegates have a joint dinner on Saturday evening).

Accomodation

In cooperation with our host, two special accommodation options have been offered:

a) Special Hotel Offer
b) Hosted Housing

Please apply for option a, b or c (own arrangement) when registering for the Strategic Day and/or the AGA.

a) Special Hotel Offer

A delegate Bed & Breakfast rate of GBP 80 single occupancy or GBP 45 per person sharing a twin room (based on a 3 night stay) is available to all delegates. Those booking a single space in a twin room will be allocated a room share partner on arrival. It is possible for two delegates to book a twin room together by providing both names at the time of booking.

IMPORTANT: Unlike in previous years, YOU HAVE TO get in touch with the Hotel directly concerning these reservations. Organisers guarantee placement for registrations before Feb 1 only. Please also note taht it is not possible to book the accommodation directly via the online booking form under these conditions; the ONLY way is by emailing them to the email address mentioned above.

b) Hosted Housing

Hosted housing will be provided, if needed (limited number).

TRAVEL

If you come by air, the nearest airports are Manchester and Liverpool (1 hour jouney time to Manchester). Two other airports which can also be used are Leeds Bradford and London (please see below for more info).
The preferred airline is Jet2, low-cost carrier (www.jet2.com), but we also suggest to check www.dohop.com and www.skyscanner.net for all flight possibilities.

From Manchester Airport
Manchester City Centre and the Ramada Jarvis Piccadilly hotel can easily be reached from Manchester airport.
Train: Trains leave Manchester Airport train station for Manchester Piccadilly train station (5 minutes walk from the Ramada Jarvis Piccadilly hotel) approximately every ten minutes and a single fare costs between £3.20 and £3.80. The journey to the City Centre lasts between fifteen and twenty-five minutes.
Bus: There is a 24 hour bus service from Manchester airport to Manchester City Centre. Take the number 43 or 105 buses to the City Centre and get off at Piccadilly Gardens bus station, right next to the Ramada Jarvis Piccadilly hotel.
Taxi: Taxis can be taken from the airport direct to the hotel. The fare will probably be about £20 and the journey time is approximately fifteen to twenty-five minutes.

From Liverpool Airport
Coach: The easiest and cheapest way to get from Liverpool Airport to Manchester City Centre is via ‘Terravision’ coach. Terravision coach journeys from Liverpool John Lennon Airport to Shudehill Interchange Manchester City Centre (about 10 minutes walk from the Ramada Jarvis Piccadilly hotel) take just 60 minutes and adult tickets cost £7 one way, or £10 return. Coaches depart every hour from Liverpool John Lennon Airport outside the Arrivals Hall near the Yellow Submarine. Tickets can be pre-booked online or bought direct from the Terravision Ticket Desk staff in the Arrivals Hall, Departures Hall or at the Coach.
Train: If you would prefer to travel from by train, you need to catch a local bus from the airport to Liverpool South Parkway train station. From here there are direct trains to Manchester Oxford Road train station, which is 10 minutes walk from the Ramada Jarvis Piccadilly hotel.

From Leeds Bradford Airport
By Bus and Train: Catch the Metroconnect 757 bus from the airport to Leeds railway station. There is only one of these buses every hour. From Leeds catch the train to either Manchester Piccadilly or Manchester Oxford Road station, both of which are approximately ten minutes walk from the Ramada Jarvis Piccadilly station.

From London Airports
By Train: Manchester Piccadilly train station is connected to all major London airports. Information about train times and fares can be found at www.nationalrail.co.uk or www.virgintrains.co.uk.
Please be aware that public transport is not cheap in the UK and train prices from London may vary by as much as £100 per journey. Please book train journeys well in advance and check for earlier or later times if your journey seems particularly expensive.
By Coach: National Express coaches connect all the London airports with Manchester. The journey can take up to eight hours and can involve at least one change either in London or Birmingham but it can be cheaper than the train. More information from www.nationalexpress.com.
