Highest ever fine imposed on swimming-pool discriminating against LGBTQ sports association in Hungary

Budapest, August 29, 2017 - The Equal Treatment Authority found that a local-government run swimming pool discriminated against an LGBTQ sports association when it declined to rent out two of its swimming lanes for a sport event. The Authority imposed a fine of 1 million HUF.

EGLSF Member club, Atlasz Sports Club offers lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) people an opportunity to practice sports in an LGBTQ-friendly environment in Hungary since 2004. Brussels Gay Sports Celebrate 25 years!

Brussels Gay Sports, or BGS, started in 1991 as a group of friends who played volleyball. Since then it has grown and it is now – 25 years later – an association of more than 750 members.

Badminton, body conditioning, capoeira, futsal, hiking, pilates, running, swimming, tango dancing, tennis, volleyball, yoga and water polo. Those are the sports BGS has on offer. But BGS also has a choir, a massage course, a group of improvisation theater, and even vegetarians that unite on a regular basis.

Inspirational Additions to the “Against the Rules” Exhibition.

The EGLSF is proud to unveil 2 new additions to the "Against the Rules" Exhibition. Over the past number of months the federation has been looking for inspirational athletes to join the exhibition and after long discussions we are happy to welcome Finnish Professional Goal Keeper for FC Bayern München, Tinja-Riikka Korpela, and Turkish Professional Referee, Halil İbrahim Dinçdağ.

AGA Papers available

As every year, one month previous to our assembly, the Board is happy to present you the AGA papers for Krakow. There could be some modifications in terms of candidates (both for positions or hosting cities) so this doc will be updated if necessary and a final version will be sent out just before we start our general meeting.

EGLSF  is looking forward to meeting you all in Krakow, Poland, at our next Annual General Assembly.
